Backlog Students of 5th, 6th Semesters, Batch 2018, Urge KU to Conduct Exams.

Backlog students of fifth and sixth semesters, Batch 2018, have urged Kashmir University to conduct exams in order to save their precious academic year besides enabling them to appear in various upcoming entrance exams.

A delegation of students told Kashmir Glory
that they appeared in their exams (for 5th, 6th se-
mesters) in March-April last year. “At that time Covid-19 was on its peak while we had completed just 50% of the syllabus, still we appeared into exams”, however what was shocking were the results where most of the students were
shown to have failed either in one or two subjects’.
“Once we approached Controller Examina tions, we were said to apply for re-evaluation, to which we abided by paying rupees 500”, they said.

“However what frustrated us was that there was almost no change in the overall results”, the delegation said.

“A year has passed since then and the varsity
was supposed to conduct the pending exams after 6 months, however there has been no word from the authorities”, they said.

They further said; When KU introduced CBCS, it contained a provision that if a candidate fails in 5th or 6th semester, he or she has have to appear in a subsequent supplementary examination – to save academic year of students.

“The lackadaisical approach by authorities
to conduct the exams has put our careers at stake and putting us under huge mental pres-
sure”, they lamented.

Urging the varsity authorities to save their precious year, the delegation members further
said they hope Controller of Examinations will
look into the matter with more seriousness at an
earliest so that they are able to appear in upcom-
ing entrance examinations being conducted by
various universities and other exams by differ-
ent recruitment agencies.
