Employees of Block Rafiabad go on pen-down strike over ‘baseless’ allegation against VLW
Sopore, March 09: The employees of Block Rafiabad have begun a pen-down strike over, what they called, a baseless allegation of harassment levelled by a PMAY Beneficiary against the Village Level Worker (VLW).
According to the employees, a lady PMAY beneficiary visited the block office and misbehaved with the employees. “The lady registered a complaint at Tehsildar’s office against the VLW which proved to be baseless after eyewitnesses’ statements were recorded. After that, the lady registered a complaint at Police Station Dangiwacha and since then the VLW is behind the bars,” the employees said.
“We have now begun our pen-down strike and demand immediate release of the VLW who has done nothing wrong. We will not end our strike till the VLW is released,” they added.
Meanwhile, the concerned SHO refuted the claims of the employees that the VLW has been put behind the bars. “He has been called to the police station for the verification of matter and not arrested,” the SHO said.
