Higher reaches Recieve Fresh spell of Snow,Rain lashes Plains in Kashmir

Srinagar, 23 Oct (PTK) : The higher reaches of Kashmir valley received fresh spell of snowfall on Friday-Saturday night while the plains were lashed by rains, officials said .

Reports reaching press trust of Kashmir (PTK) that gulmarg in north Kashmir, received over few inches of fresh snow, resulting in further dip in the day temperature. Kongdori and Apharwat, the highest point of the cable car project in Gulmarg also received moderate snowfall.

The snowfall has occurred at Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, Aharbal and other parts of the valley, officials said, ading that Other parts of the valley also received rains from late last night, thus bringing the temperature down in the union Territory.

According to press trust of Kashmir (PTK) the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed for traffic movement due to shooting stones triggered by heavy rains at Cafeteria Morh Ramban district on Saturday morning .

“Traffic movement on national highway has been suspended due to continuous shooting stones at Cafeteria Morh cafeteria near Ramban,” District Traffic Inspector said.

Earlier The Meteorological (MeT) office forecast widespread light to moderate rains and snowfall in higher reaches and said there is a possibility of light snow in plains as well on 23rd. The current wet spell is likely to continue till Monday after which the weather is expected to improve, the MeT official said. (PTK)
