In an initiative to provide employment opportunities to the unemployed youth of Kupwara District. The Indian Army ‘Kupwara Terriers’ conducted five youth interaction programs at Gulgam and Warsun. During the interaction, Schemes of Himayat Skill Development courses were informed to the youth.
A total of approx 400 youth attended the interaction and out of which 200 were shortlisted in the screening who were meeting eligibility criteria for Himayat courses. The various courses for which students got enrolled are Hotel management, help desk Electrician and Computer Operator.
They will be provided with free certified skill development and professional training. On completion of the course successfully, the candidates will get a certificate from a nationally recognized university and guaranteed placement will be ensured to help them to become economically independent.
A total of 60 students were finally registered after counselling session for various Courses. So far initial call have been received by 25 students for Srinagar and Hyderabad Centres.
Maximum candidates opted for out of state Himayat centers in which Hyderabad was their popular choice, accordingly efforts were made with Himayat for allotment of the Hyderabad center as per the choice of students.

A send-off ceremony was organised by Kupwara Terriers at Pathahirri camp on 25 Oct 21.
The students were given a grand send off to Hyderabad by civil Flight through the NGO. The students were full of high spirit and morale. The parents of the students were present and looked very enthusiastic for their children going out of state for new life and career.
Kupwara Terriers (Indian Army) is always in the forefront of conducting such initiatives and aims to reach out to the local community in the remote areas near the LoC and integrate them with mainstream economy.
